William Kwenkeu Player Profile

PLAYER PROFILE:

William Kwenkeu is a linebacker for the Minnesota Vikings in the National Football League. Kwenkeu was born in Cameroon in 1997, where he spent the majority of his early childhood. At 14, William moved to the United States with his mother. During his sophomore year in high school, Kwenkeu tried out for the school's football team and immediately excelled. Even though he didn't know the rules, his athleticism and motor earned him a spot on the team. After his sophomore season, he transferred to a private school, where he became the team's most dominating player. He played every down as an upperclassman, as he played running back, linebacker, and kicker for his high school team. After graduating from high school in 2016, Kwenkeu earned a scholarship to Temple University in Philadelphia. He would spend the next six years playing for Temple. He started his collegiate career by redshirting, as he was still raw and needed to learn how to play the linebacker position. He finally became a regular starter in 2020 for Temple and had a breakout season in 2021 where he started every game. Over his six-year collegiate career, Kwenkeu played in 47 games and recorded 183 tackles and seven sacks. After graduating from Temple University in 2022, William went undrafted, but was quickly signed by the Minnesota Vikings. He would spend his Rookie season on the practice squad for the Vikings and is hoping to make an impact on the active roster for the Vikings in 2023! We are extremely excited to welcome William Kwenkeu to camp this June! Your chance to meet William and other members of the Minnesota Vikings is June 25-28, 2023 at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN. Don't miss out!
