PLAYER PROFILE:
Josh Uche is a linebacker for the New England Patriots in the National Football League. Josh was born in 1998 to Nigerian immigrants and grew up in Miami, Florida. He excelled in high school as an amazing athlete and earned a scholarship to the University of Michigan. Josh struggled with injuries in his first two seasons at Michigan, but he wasn't going to let that stop him. He persevered through two injury-riddled seasons before having a career year as a Junior. As a Junior, Uche started in 12 games at linebacker, recording 8 tackles for loss and leading the team with 7 sacks. He impressed his head coach, Jim Harbaugh, so much that he described Josh as "highly determined and motivated. He's a really special player". He was also announced as an honorable All-Big Ten selection as a Junior. Instead of going pro early, Josh decided to stay for his Senior year, and it was the right choice. As a Senior, Josh recorded 34 tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss, and 8.5 sacks, which led the team. He was also chosen as a Second Team All-Big Ten Selection as a Senior. After graduating from Michigan in 2019, Josh declared for the 2020 NFL Draft, where he was selected in the Second Round by the New England Patriots (60th overall). In his first two seasons with the Patriots, Josh primarily played as a situational pass rusher and special teams' player. He finally broke through during his third season in 2022. He became a starter at outside linebacker for the Patriots and recorded 27 tackles, 11.5 sacks, and 2 forced fumbles in 2022! The future is bright for Josh, and we can't wait to have him with us at camp this July! Your chance to meet Josh Uche and other members of the New England Patriots is July 18-21st. Don't miss out!
