A Rising Star from Rising Sun
Monday, April 25, 2011
This month, SI Blitz spotlights former camper, Dominick M. Massimiano, a senior from Rising Sun Maryland. Dominick played Tight End and Outside Linebacker for the Rising Sun High School Tigers. In his junior year, he received All County Tight End, All Susquehanna, and All Conference 1st Team Defense Honors. Last summer, Dominick attended the Jeremiah Trotter Football Camp held at Valley Forge Military Academy in Wayne, PA.
Dominick made the decision to come to camp for the first time because he wanted to learn more about football and improve his skills. Having the opportunity to meet members of the Philadelphia Eagles also added to the appeal for a football fan like Dominick. "It was awesome to have Jeremiah Trotter in your huddle giving you tips," said Dominick. He named Jeremiah Trotter and Akeem Jordan as his favorite professional players to attend camp.
Sports International prides itself on bringing in an experienced, knowledgeable coaching staff. "The coaches were good and I enjoyed what and how they instructed us," said Dominick. When asked who his favorite coach at camp he could not pick just one, he liked them all. And the instruction on the field paid off as Dominick was named to the Gridiron Elite at camp.
Our philosophy is to "let them have fun" while learning a lot of football! And that is exactly what happened at camp. Campers receive quality instruction while still getting the chance to have fun and make new friends. Dominick says he, "Loved all of the football, but it was great to relax at the end of each day with new friends, eating pizza, and playing pool & ping-pong." In fact, he still keeps in touch with some of the friends he made at camp.
This past season Dominick wasn't able to play football due to an injury, but he stayed involved with the team by keeping stats, filming games, and helping motivate the rest of the team. "I am a strong leader and very motivated. I don't plan on letting my injury hold me back. I love football and am ready to play again, soon!" said Dominick.
Dominick's future plans include playing football at Wesley College. He plans to major in Physical Education with a minor in Health Education and Coaching. Sports International wishes Dominick the best of luck in the future! |
