Eat Well, Play Hard

Good nutrition is an important but often forgotten aspect of football training. We here at Sports International Football Camps try to cover all the angles when it comes to making better football players. Not only does good nutrition help a person become a better athlete, it instills good eating habits that can lead to a longer and more productive life.
Children should ask parents to set the example in eating right, so you kids will do so as well. A family that eats healthy and makes that a habit is a happy family!
Breakfast is indeed the most important meal of the day. It starts you off for a busy day by putting fuel in the body's gas tank. Smoothies are a favorite breakfast treat, especially in the summer during hot weather. Orange juice mixed with some nuts and wheat germ is very good for you and tasty as well. Bananas in the smoothie have good nutritional value and help in avoiding painful cramps.
Any time you can add fresh fruits or vegetables to the meal, it makes it more nutritious. Hard boiled eggs for breakfast rather than fried eggs are a plus. You want to avoid cereal loaded down with sugar at all costs. All things that are good for you, do not taste bad.
For lunch you always want to add fruit in for dessert. Also mix it up; people get tired of eating the same thing all the time. Trail Mix is a great thing to add to the diet if you bring your lunch to school. It tastes good, is good for you, and looks kind of cool.
Since taste is what drives most kids in their eating habits, you need to experiment with different foods. Find out which nutritious foods you enjoy eating and ask that family meals are prepared with those foods.
Lean meats and low fat dairy products are a must in any athlete's diet. Beans are good for an athlete, as they provide great protein. Try to drink water instead of soda, as often as possible. Whole grain foods, such as rice and pasta, are good nutritious meals for dinner. The most important thing to do is sit down with your doctor and get a good nutrition plan in place from them.
Nutrition helps your body develop the proper muscles and endurance needed for football. The better in shape you are in, the better football player you will become. |
